PERSONAL REFLECTION

To put things in perspective, I purchased my first investment property over 20 years ago. At the time I was hardly employed, inexperienced and well...broke. 

I would like to believe I was the handsome young gentleman who had everything going for him, but truth be told, I was the "garbage picker”. When I wasn't working some odd job for hardly any money, I would pour my blood, sweat and tears into scouring the neighborhood curbs for any gem I knew would be gold to another soul and help me achieve my goal. 

My focus and determination eventually paid off. I amassed the downpayment to land each property that had potential, closed my first deal, received my first seller credit at closing, made a five-figure profit and finally owned a rental property producing net positive cashflow. From there, I went on to my next deal.

Ahhh...the sweet taste of compounding residual income.

From humble beginnings, I went on to found a Money Management Firm, headquartered in Manhattan, New York, with our branch on Long Island, all the while reaping rewards from that same rental property portfolio. I fought tooth, nail and lost all my hair just to survive the banking collapse of 2008. 

Moral of the story, I understand the value of a dollar and the "grit" it takes to make something out of nothing.
